Spanish newstands launch the largest marketing mobile network

Spaniards have created an interactive urban TV Channel. Cell phone users will be able to download games, music and discount coupons.

Barcelona newstand owners will be on the news. They have created their own interactive TV Channel, installing devices in each newstand, according to a news release published in Cinco Días. The idea came from Hermes Publicidad and the Professional Association of Newspaper Vendors of Barcelona. The official launching will take place on February 28th. This marketing action will help them attract new customers, at a time when sales have been dropping because of online news.

Newstands of the 21st Century

Barcelona / 700 newstands widen their offer by providing pedestrians with TV Channel, wi-fi connection and bluetooth mobile marketing. By next June, Canal Kiosk, should be installed and working. CanalKiosk, will provide all city newstands the lastest technology, allowing the broadcasting of multimedia contents and opening new ways of promotion.

Barcelona. (EUROPA PRESS).- By mid march, Barcelona newstands will be launching Canalkiosk, an interactive televisión channel that will broadcast news 24 hours. 365 days a year, according to project management.

Barcelona newstands will have an interactive televisión screens

Starting March, all newstands will have WiFi access and pedestirans will be able to download different marketing promotions via bluetooth

Beginning March, about 700 newstands in the city of Barcelona and surroundings will have their own interactive televisión screen. Canalkiosk will be seen in huge screens offering Internet connection and bluetooth in order to interact with any pedestrian that walks by the newstand,

The initiative began by the Professional Association of Newspaper Vendors of Barcelona, and will convert the city in the largest urban mobile marketing.

Citizen Digital Content

The televisión programming, will show ten different programs, from public services to news, responsability of Globally and Pandora Box. Beginning March, whomever registers his name on the CanalKiosk.tv website, will be able to upload digital content to it. Once the content is supervised and edited, it may be watched in all newstand flat tv screens.

Pedestrians carrying cell phones with bluetooth capabilities, will also be able to download free of charge information appearing on these screens. They will also be able to receive different promotional content as well as offers or product discounts.

Companies that have made this posible are Philips, who will be providing LCD 42 inch screens, Fon, that provides newstands with WiFi, SitMobile, who is in charge of the bluetooth technology allowing pedestrians to download information, and, Admiral Digital Networks, who is responsable of managing the digital platform.

Barcelona newstands launch a street TV Channel

Philips, Fon and SitMobile are backing up the technological aspect of the project. Barcelona newstand owners will be in the news, it’s also posible that they may be on the pages of the newspapers that they sell. Newstands are following the example of TV Channels that broadcast in Madrid and Barcelona’s subways, by creating their own Interactive Urban TV Channel, which shall be installed in all city newstands.

The idea came from Hermes Publicidad and the Association of Professional Newstand Vendors of Barcelona and Provinces. The official launching is expected to take place next February. 28th, an initiative that may help newstands to have a new attraction for their customers, at a time when internet has taken a great part of their profits thanks to online news.
